Meet Dr. Muhammed Ikram, Medical Director at Bold Steps Behavioral Health

At Bold Steps Behavioral Health, we believe that great care starts with compassionate leadership. Our Medical Director, Dr. Muhammed Ikram, brings more than 22 years of experience in psychiatric care—ranging from corrections to outpatient treatment—into every program we offer.

Dr. Ikram is a Board-Certified Psychiatrist in Adult and Addiction Psychiatry, as well as a former Penn State Assistant Professor and APA Fellow. His expertise is matched only by his belief that real healing happens when evidence-based clinical treatment is paired with respect for each person’s individual story.

Throughout his career, Dr. Ikram has seen how lives can change when people are met with both skill and compassion. At Bold Steps, he guides our Partial Hospitalization (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient (IOP) programs, ensuring that care for co-occurring disorders is integrative, personalized, and rooted in the latest science. His goal is simple: deliver care that helps people adapt, grow, and heal.

Inspired by the words of Charles Darwin—“It is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent, it is the one most adaptable to change”—Dr. Ikram helps individuals find strength in resilience and recovery.

We’re proud to have Dr. Ikram leading our clinical team, and we know our patients benefit daily from his dedication to compassionate, innovative care.
